Weight Loss Tip!

I was listening to the radio yesterday, and I heard this super awesome tip about how to lose weight. The DJ started off by explaining that in our natural state, humans don’t have a steady supply of food, and so we hold on to energy-giving nutrients (fats, carbs, and protein) and save them for later. When we try to diet by starving ourselves, all we are doing is sending our body into starvation mode. We are telling our body that there isn’t enough food and that we need to hold on to the nutrients in the food we are eating. However, we also know that using the energy we consume (by exercising) is an important part of losing weight. So how are we supposed to balance calorie-cutting without starving ourselves? It’s actually quite simple; we need to remove no more than 400 calories at a time. That includes exercise too! The radio host guy said that we should strive to cut 200 calories out of our diet and exercise enough to burn 200 more calories, which gives us a total of 400 calories removed from our system. What a great idea! This way our diet simply cuts out some of the stored energy, while our body taps into the storage we already have. I think it sounds fantastic, and I’m going to give it a shot. I guess if everyday I do an hour of hard core cleaning, like sweeping, vacuuming and scrubbing, then I’ll get that 200 calories of exercise :) That just leaves a bit of modifying my diet (no more McDonalds, guys!) then I’ll be set! Ideally, you want to lose about 2 pounds a week if you want to do it the right way, and this plan sounds like it’ll work (plus my house will be cleaner). Wish me luck!!!
